Youth Guarantee Programme: New Opportunities for Young People in Somerset

The Youth Guarantee Programme is creating new opportunities for young people aged 16–24 to access employment, training and skills support across Somerset.

What is the Youth Guarantee Programme?

The Government’s Youth Guarantee Programme, delivered through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is creating new opportunities for young people aged 16–24 to access employment, training and skills support.

The programme has a particular focus on reducing the number of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), helping more young people access the support and opportunities they need to take their next steps.

New Youth Hubs in Somerset

As part of the programme, new Youth Hubs will provide joined-up careers, skills and employment support across Somerset.

By bringing different forms of support together, the Youth Hubs will help young people access guidance and opportunities as they move towards education, training or employment.

Opportunities for employers and organisations

The programme also creates opportunities for local employers and organisations to get involved.

This includes becoming a Youth Hub delivery partner, providing support services and helping to promote work experience and employment opportunities for young people.

The Youth Jobs Grant will also provide financial incentives to employers recruiting young people.
